Biodiversity is need of the hour

With a view to imparting an impetus to the conservation effort towards biodiversity, The Villagers Foundation has curated a Handbook on Butterflies, which showcases a total of 75 ( commemorating 75 years of Independence Day) species found in Pithoragarh region of Uttarakhand – few of them are rare and others on the verge of following suit. In the wake of abrupt climatic changes and other human triggered calamities, it is high time we came forward to aid the conservation process by disseminating information among masses on hows and whys of the biodiversity we inhabit. Every species, ranging from the tiniest to the hugest, in our ecosystem has a role to play, let alone butterflies. While on one hand, the Handbook has had details on butterflies, it also harbours images of them so as to give a better perspective.

The Villagers Foundation owes a sincere thank to everyone – especially Ms.Pooja Pant – who lend a helping hand needed to complete the handbook. We look forward to creating communities across regions inclined to work for such causes.
