About Us

History

Our story starts way back, when we became the part of it itself.

Registered under Indian Trusts Act, 1882, The Villagers Foundation is an Ngo which aims at working in the field of Rural upliftment, Child education, Women empowerment and prevalent climatic changes. Perched in deep pockets in The Himalayas in Uttarakhand, there are villages still deprived of basic necessities such as food, clothes and proper shelter, let alone the education and employment opportunities, thus marginalised from the mainstream of what a society is deemed to be. Not to mention, the weather conditions in the region further pose challenges hard to combat with.
In order to ameliorate the conditions in the rural Himalayas, The Villagers Foundation has envisioned a drive named ” A Handful Help” which urges people from different strata to donate things or anything no longer in use for them. It might be your old clothes hanging in your wardrobe or a pair of shoes that have accumulated enough dust settled in one corner of your house or books that have eluded your attention for long or anything (reiterated). It could well be a class over internet to the exuberant children or sharing your expertise to the youths in need. A doctor’s advice to the old mama in remote villages is a life-saving. An entrepreneur’s advice to the youth could be life-changing.In doing, you too will be getting an insight into the lives of people living in the mountains. Who knows? one day you will be listening to the old lady who you help in some manner or other. Sharing flows like a river.
